This page outlines supplementary rules, guidance, and key information that can assist both players and admins during matches, as well as useful links.
In Hitman Roulette, a crash occurs when a participant cannot reasonably be expected to continue playing. This most commonly happens when the game closes unexpectedly, but can also include infinite loading screens, internet outages, or similar issues. If a participant crashes, the match admin takes one of the following actions to ensure fairness:
All such decisions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Because crashes can make photo finishes more complex, players are asked to remain patient while the admin reviews the situation, potentially in consultation with other admins, as resolving these cases may take additional time.
During a roulette match, if both players press Done in close succession, a photo finish protocol begins. In a photo finish, the match admin manually subtracts all loading time from each player's finishing time to determine the true, hardware-adjusted winner of the map.
The size of the photo finish window is determined by the first finisher:
The start of a load is defined as when the loading bar becomes visible, which happens immediately after pressing Play when starting the map, or OK after selecting Restart Mission. The end of a load is defined as the moment the screen turns black at the conclusion of the loading screen.
The admin measures the length of each load using a stopwatch or a frame-by-frame browser extension, and may request a second opinion in especially close cases. If a run contains an excessive number of loads, the admin may speed up the process by timing the first few loads and extrapolating an average for the remainder. The winner is then determined using the initial difference between the Done presses and the total loading times of both players, before the score is manually updated.
Example:
Player A finished first with an initial lead of 7.43 seconds.
Player A loaded once for 4.56 seconds.
Player B loaded three times for a total of 17.11 seconds.
After loading times are taken into account, Player B wins by 5.12 seconds.
Waiving Rights: If a player is certain they will not win the photo finish, they may waive their right to a calculation by informing the match's Roulette Admin with a ping. In this case, the admin will award the map to the opponent without performing the calculation.
Ties: If the final difference between the players is 2.00 seconds or less, the map is considered a tie and both players receive one point. If this occurs on the decider map, a new spin is issued on the same map instead to determine a winner.
